Macintosh Help File - Getting Started with OKweb (Internet Explorer)
![]() |
If you wish to download the latest version of Apple MRJ, please do so now and restart your computer. If you are reading this file, you either are experiencing difficulty installing IE5 (Internet Explorer) or running OKweb on IE5 or are preparing for those possibilities. You also already have IE5 Installed and running on your computer. If OKweb still isn't working on your computer, it is probably related to a program call Mac OS Runtime for Java (MRJ). This is an engine for IE5 and Mac to run Java Applications like OKweb. The most recent version of this product which is available, is MRJ 2.2.4 MRJ 2.2 is the previous version. IE5 suggests you have MRJ 2.2 installed on your computer in order to run OKweb. This isn't always necessary, but if you are getting this error message, it is time to download MRJ 2.2.4. Download now, by clicking on download and searching for MRJ in the first section of the Apple Support Page. Once you have downloaded and installed MRJ 2.2, restart your computer. Then open IE5 and go to your Preferences file under the Edit menu at the top of your screen. Select Java on the left side of the preferences window and then on the right side, check the box that says "Enable Java (Apple MRJ)." Still not working? Here are some other fixes that might help: 1. In your System Folder on the Hard Drive, there is another folder called Preferences. Inside this Preferences folder is a document called PPC Registration Database. Drag this document to the trash and then empty your trash. Restart IE5 and try opening OKweb again. 2. In your IE5 folder, there is a file called Java Message Log. Drag it to the trash and empty the trash. Restart IE5 and try opening OKweb again. 3. In the Preferences file of IE5, select Advanced on the left side, and click the button on the right side that says "Empty Now." This is your cache. It holds data about the web pages you have visited since you last opened IE5. Now try opening OKweb again. If all of these methods have failed, and Netscape won't work either, send an e-mail to help@okbridge.com .
