OKbridge is a 24-hour ONLINE BRIDGE CLUB that allows members from around the world to play bridge together on the Internet. How to play.
Lobby tables: When you open a bridge session in Okbridge, you enter the Lobby of the bridge club where you can see the open Tables that other members have already set up for playing bridge. You can join one of these existing Tables, or you can set up a new Table.
Players: You can also see which members are currently at the club, view their Profiles, and chat with them if you like, as you select potential partners and opponents. The Profile contains the member's information such as name, email address, playing level and preferences.
Join a Table: Simply highlight a Table then click to watch others play or ask to sit in an empty seat and be a player. Once a game is arranged, four people play bridge together at a Table with any number of people watching — the software takes care of dealing the cards and showing bids & plays to all players. After the play of the hand, everyone may review the hand and compare it to how it was played at other tables.
Some people prefer just to watch — watchers are welcome at almost all tables. Watchers are of two types: observers and spectators.
An observer may converse freely with the players who are sitting at the table.
A spectator is allowed to see all four of the hands as they are being played. Spectating expert players provides a unique learning and entertainment experience. You are able to watch every action that the expert makes, knowing in advance all of the cards held by the other players. Spectators can converse with each other, discussing and critiquing the actions of the players. Of course, since they see all hands, spectators cannot converse with players.
Duplicate bridge: Duplicate play in OKbridge is organized into two weekly events, a Matchpoint event and an International Matchpoint (IMP) event. During the course of the week, each duplicate board you play will be played at many other tables. At the end of the week, the final scores are assigned, and you can see how your duplicate boards were played at each of the other tables.
Matchpoint Scoring: You receive a percentile score that measures how well you did relative to each of the other people who played your cards at the other tables.
International Matchpoint (IMP) Scoring: Similar to matchpoint, except the scores are computed using the pairwise method.
Team Play: In addition to four-person table play, OKbridge provides team play. where two teams of four play against each other. This involves two tables. The members of a team sit north-south at one table and east-west at the other, and OKbridge deals the same hands to each table.
Tournament Play: OKbridge also provides tournament play. In a tournament, participants simultaneously play a set of boards resembling the format used in a single-session duplicate event at a bridge tournament.
Hand Review: OKbridge maintains a database of every hand played competitively. You can review hands you played in preceding weeks and see how your play compared to that of others.
Lehman system: Each
player is assigned a rating based upon the results achieved. Updates to
your ratings take into account the ratings of the players with whom you
played.
